Saving the doomsday glacier is being considered in Finland

Warm seawater is melting the huge Thwaites Glacier, which could lead to its melting and rapid sea level rise.

Could a huge curtain be drawn in front of Antarctica to protect the glacier from warm sea water? The project, which sounds insane, is already being studied at the University of Lapland.

we fear that a huge glacier in Antarctica is slowly breaking into the sea. This Thwaites Glacier has been called into a doomsday glacier.

The reason is that the collapse of the Thwaites glacier alone would raise the sea level by more than half a meter over time – and would pave the way for an even bigger glacier to drain into the sea in the following centuries.
