"A nail driven into a cable". Salvini explains today’s train ‘chaos’

Another black day for commuters forced to deal with yet another breakdown (this time between Rome Termini and Rome Tiburtina) which has brought the circulation of Italian trains to its knees. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Matteo Salvini, speaking to journalists, explains the reasons for the chaos as follows: “There was an error by a private company which planted a nail on a cable last night. The reaction time of faced with this error, it was not up to the standards that Europe’s second industrial power must have. The private sector will answer for it”, explained the leader of the League.

“I asked for responsibilities to emerge, whoever made a mistake will have to answer for it – added Salvini -. I asked for the names and surnames” of those who “did not do their job well. And I asked for an audit of the power supply units throughout Italy “.

The engineers are working on what happened because it is not possible to invest billions of euros to buy new carriages, new commuter trains, intercity trains, high speed trains, the TAV, the Brenner Pass and everything else and then if one at 3 at night, in Rome, hammering the nail in the wrong place ruins the working day of thousands of people. It is not possible – the minister underlined – that a mistake by a private individual can stop half of Italy”.
