Fire brigade operation: Suspected infection: platform closed in Hamburg

A man was taken to hospital in a special fire department vehicle at Hamburg Central Station because of a possible contagious infection. A platform was closed for this purpose. The man was taken away in a so-called infection van, said a fire department spokesman. He had flu-like symptoms and was slightly nauseous. He didn’t have a fever.

The fire department used the special vehicle as a precaution and also to protect its own people. According to the Federal Police, platform four at Hamburg Central Station was closed during the operation, but has since been reopened.
