The terrorist group Hamas claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack that occurred on Tuesday (1st) in Jaffa, south of Tel Aviv, in central Israel. In the shooting and knife attack, eight people were killed and several others were injured.

“The Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades assumes responsibility for the heroic operation in Jaffa carried out by fighters from the city of Hebron (West Bank),” Hamas said in a statement.

Two terrorists were shot at the scene. One of them was killed by Lev Kreitman, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reservist who was eating at a restaurant in the area. The second terrorist was shot by police officers and was seriously injured.

During the terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023, Hamas killed around 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped another 250.

After exchanges for Palestinian prisoners who were in Israeli prisons and rescues of living people and bodies, 101 hostages remain in the Gaza Strip. Israeli intelligence believes that most of them are dead.

The attacks of October 2023 triggered the current war in the Middle East, initially in Gaza and which later saw other fronts opened in the West Bank and Lebanon (where Israel faces another terrorist group, Hezbollah), with Iran potentially being the fourth, following Tehran’s missile attack on Israel on Tuesday.
