Cuban artist Marta Valdés dies at 90

The Cuban composer, performer and music critic Marta Valdes He died this October 3 at the age of 90, as confirmed by sources from the General Society of Authors and Editors to Europa Press.

The artist has died in Havana where he was born in 1934 and where he received the first notions of guitar that would allow him to begin his professional career in 1955, with the composition of the bolero ‘Palabras’.

“This morning our heart is closer to Cuba for the loss of our dear partner Marta Valdés. Habanera Rellolla and very illustrious composer (also for theater) has been able to see how several generations of performers have kept her work active. For many years she was the musical advisor of the Teatro Estudio group,” the SGAE has written in its X account.

Precisely, last December Valdés received the Casa de los Autores Key, a symbolic award with which the entity highlights the professional career of the members who celebrate 50 years in it.
