EIF:n and AC Oulu’s Veikkausliiga match was interrupted in the opening period AC Oulu Musa Jattan curl up on the side of the field. He had been substituted a few minutes earlier.
Jatta was hit in the head in the first minute of the match while chasing the ball.
The player was first treated on the field, then he was taken to the side of the field. Jatta’s nose seemed to be bleeding. He was substituted out of the match and replaced Santeri Silander.
When the match had been played for about 10 minutes, Ruuttu’s commentator Ville Makkonen noticed from outside the picture that Jatta, who was being treated on the side of the field, fell to the ground.
“Fortunately, Oulu’s medical staff did not let Jatta back into the game. You could see the collapse on that bench, it could have happened in the middle of the match. In that sense, I have to take my hat off to Oulu’s medical staff. Let’s hope that everything is fine there,” Makkonen remarked during the broadcast.
The game continued normally for several more minutes. When the match had been played for 20 minutes, the referee Joni Hyytä stopped the match.
Shortly after this, an ambulance drove across the field, to which Jatta was transferred.
“These are the worst situations that can happen in this sport. I have to admit that even my own thoughts are a bit confused because of this,” Makkonen said.
Both teams were sent to the locker rooms to wait in the middle of the period. The match was interrupted for about 15 minutes.
AC Oulu chairman Tomi Kaismo told about Jatta’s situation in more detail by phone.
Kaismo said that Jatta was transferred by ambulance to a hospital in Helsinki for further treatment and examinations. There was some comforting information.
– According to the information at the moment, he received a severe concussion, but nothing more serious. His condition will be monitored overnight. Tomorrow we will know things in more detail, Kaismo added.
EIF and AC Oulu played a 1–1 draw in Raasepori. The result ensured both AC Oulu’s survival in Veikkausliiga and EIF’s relegation to Ykkösliiga.
