Bavaria: Police investigate childcare worker in daycare center

Küps, Kronach district (Bavaria) – Blue hematomas, scratches, red spots covered Lian’s small body. Injuries that are said to have been inflicted on the 17-month-old boy during naptime at the daycare center. The public prosecutor’s office is now investigating a childcare worker.

When mom Christina (24) and dad Fabian (25) saw these injuries when picking up their son, they were shocked and immediately went to the emergency doctor. That’s where the next shock comes: the doctor diagnoses a bruised skull – plus injuries to his back and arms.

“I took our son to daycare at 8 a.m. He was unharmed and in a good mood,” says the 24-year-old. When the young couple arrived at the daycare center around 2 p.m. to pick up their son, they saw their two teachers sitting together with the kindergarten management through the glass door.

When Lian ran towards his parents, they immediately saw the bruises. “I was perplexed, it wasn’t plausible to me why Lian had spots all over his face,” says father Fabian to BILD. The teacher didn’t know what had happened.

The family immediately went to the emergency room in Coburg. A doctor examined her Injuriesalso noticed scratches on the hand and under the armpit. The father called the police.

Lian was hospitalized for two days in the children’s clinic in Coburg (Bayern) treated.

Kindergarten released the employee immediately

Four days after the incident, Dean Dr. Ulrike Schorn, the pastor in the Kronach parish, who Kindergarten operates, in a statement the suspicion of bodily harm to a child in the daycare center in Küps. It says: “The accused employee was released immediately. As part of the facility’s protection concept, all those affected receive the necessary care and support. Our crisis intervention team is involved.”

A press release from the Upper Franconia police headquarters states: “The Public Prosecutor’s Office Coburg and the Coburg criminal police are investigating an employee of a daycare center in the market town of Küps on suspicion of mistreating those under protection.”

The suspect is said to have physically abused the boy in her care during naptime. “The child suffered, among other things, a bruised skull, several hematomas on the head and back as well as scratch injuries,” said the police further. The presumption of innocence applies.

“Lian has become more anxious, more suspicious and hits herself and others with her fists,” says Christina about the changes in her son’s behavior. The customer service employee has taken a leave of absence and is looking after her son. She has also changed since the incident, saying: “I’m afraid to take him to a new daycare center.”
