The USA and the West are trying to “infiltrate” the South Caucasus through the process of preparing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the Russian president.
“The United States and a number of other Western countries are trying to join the work on the peace treaty (between Azerbaijan and Armenia). We believe that all the draft work was done in Moscow, and now the Westerners just want to sneak into the negotiation process and thus sneak into regional issues and the region itself,” said the assistant of the Russian president.
Ushakov claimed that not all negotiating parties welcome the role of the West.
“To put it mildly, even not all participants of bilateral negotiations (between Armenia and Azerbaijan) welcome this role of the West and these attempts to interfere in the negotiation process,” the representative of the Kremlin said, without clarifying whether Yerevan or Baku is against the role of the West.
Ushakov also stated that the activity of the EU observation mission located in Armenia is “not welcome”.
