Google has begun to implement for some users in the United States different anti-theft functions powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in some Xiaomi and Pixel models, among which are Remote and Offline Locking.
The technology company announced these features last May, at the annual Google I/O developer event, where it also presented new high-capacity language models.
One of the new features of this presentation is related to the most recent version of its operating system, Android 15, which introduced a series of tools to keep personal data, files and documents stored safe “before, during and after” a theft. .
Among these protection methods, powered by AI, is the so-called Private Space, a feature that allows you to create an area separate from the device and which, in turn, can be hidden and locked with an individual password or PIN.
Offline Device Lock, meanwhile, allows users to automatically lock the screen to protect your information even when the device is offline and when multiple failed authentication attempts are made.
Likewise, Google has designed Remote Block, which complements the ‘Find my device’ tool and enables unlocking the panel by answering a series of security questions from any other terminal.
The company began testing these functions in Brazil last June and has just expanded its availability to the United States on smartphones from different manufacturers, as Android expert Mishaal Rahman recently commented.
On the one hand, Rahman has noticed the Theft Detection Lock and Disconnected Device Lock features in the Xiaomi 14T Pro. Likewise, he has announced that some users have informed him that they have remote blocking on terminals. Pixelwithout specifying the phone model.
The final versions of these features will be implemented to more devices and users this year, as Google has communicated to the analyst and he has shared on his personal Threads profile.
