Tragedy in a major triathlon race – a 39-year-old athlete died

There was a sad moment in the competition organized in Spain.

On Sunday a sad moment was experienced at the organized Ironman Calella-Barcelona competition, when a 39-year-old triathlete died in the middle of the event, says Mark-leaf.

According to the newspaper, the athlete asked for help in the middle of the swimming section.

The athlete reportedly received immediate treatment from the medical team on the spot. Despite the doctor’s efforts, the competitor died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

In the Ironman Calella-Barcelona competition, the first swim is 3.8 kilometers, after which there is a bike section of about 180 kilometers. The race ends with the running part, which measures 42.2 kilometers.

About 2,700 competitors took part in the triathlon. The men’s racing series was won by a German Jan Stratmannwho completed the course in 7:28,25. Won the women’s series Marta Sanchez at 8:31,32.
