“There are Marvel movies that don’t work and that are recycling”

The fiction follows a team from a superhero film saga, portraying with humor the chaos that exists on the filming set of a blockbuster of this type and uncovering some of the ins and outs of the industry.

“At first glance it is a comedy, a satire on the world of franchises but I noticed the endearing point that this series has, because you suffer with these people who work every day and give everything with a passion and a huge effort to survive and to save these films“explains Daniel Brühl, who plays director Eric, in an interview with Europa Press. “It made me remember all the experiences I had in those big movies I made,” the actor admits.

“Superhero franchises have always reinvented themselves. If you go to the origins, to the comics, to the worlds they created, it was a perfect option to turn it into movies. You can see that, over the decades, each version of each universe of a superhero is different, and that will continue to happen“comments Jessica Hynes, who in the series plays Steph, the head of the writing team. “They’re not always going to be good, but we’re going to have more brilliant superhero movies“he adds.

In this sense, Brühl highlights the difficulty of reinventing the superhero genre, and refers to his experience playing Zemo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Marvel always works with extremely smart people, Even they don’t always turn out well, there are also from time to time movies that don’t work and that are too much recycling.a formula, but from time to time they manage to add something to the genre that surprises you,” he argues.

Despite possible saturation on the part of the public, Hynes assures that there is a “passion” among the audience that makes viewers connect with these types of characters. “For example, with Marvel, when they tell these stories and adapt them to the world we’re living in now, With all their problems, the influence they have at a pop cultural level is very important, because it reaches many people“, dice Brühl.

“If you think that the new Captain America is a black man, this is very important, because it is a very strong signal for the youth. I, in many cases, defend the narrative, where certain ideas come from,” says the interpreter.

Along with the aforementioned actors, ‘The Franchise’ also has in its cast Himesh Patel as Daniel, Aya Cash as Anita, Billy Magnussen as Adam, Lolly Adefope as Dag, Darren Goldstein as Pat and Isaac Powell as Bryson and Richard E.
