A couple of fans of Valencia CF are being held in Singapore due to protests in front of the house of the club’s largest shareholder, Peter Lim. Dani Cuesta and his wife traveled to the Asian country on their honeymoon and showed on their social networks how they displayed the yellow ‘Lim go home’ banner designed by the Libertad VCF collective.
One of these places was a building that They believed it was a hotel owned by Valencia’s largest shareholder but it turned out to be his home.. In the videos published on social networks, you can see how, in addition to showing the banner, they place a sticker on one of the doors on the exterior walls.
Both fans, who celebrated their wedding the last weekend of September, were detained when they were preparing to leave the country and were taken back to the hotel where they had stayed, where according to the Libertad VCF association, their passport was taken away and where they have had to pay for four more nights in a hotel. Apparently, this Tuesday they must give a statement.
The Libertad VCF association demands its “immediate release” in addition to the intervention of “the political and diplomatic authorities” because they only “peacefully exercised their right to freedom of expression.”
Libertad VCF called “on all Valencians” to express “their repudiation of those who do not respect the fundamental principles of coexistence. In fact, They accuse Peter Lim of “orchestrating” this “abuse” and recall that Singapore is “a State that is among the main violators of human rights worldwide, which increases the risk for them.” That is why they demand an urgent response from Spanish institutions.
The PSOE spokesperson in the Valencia City Council, Borja Sanjuándescribed the situation as “atrocious” on social networks and asked to “enforce” the rights of both people and said that he hopes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “is working to help them as soon as possible.”
