WhatsApp is rolling out a new button that makes it easier to organize and create video calls and invite other users to participate in them, a function that disappears from the ‘Calls’ tab and is integrated into the menu of individual and group chats.
The messaging platform now allows you to create and share call links in both the for Android as well as iOS. To do this, it has a section, called ‘Calls’, where you must choose the type (video or audio). Once the url is generated, it can be copied and sent to other users or Share the link on other apps.
These calls are also end-to-end encrypted and the links expire if not used for 30 days. Likewise, WhatsApp can revoke them for security and privacy reasons, as explained on its website.
Meta, owner of WhatsApp, has worked on a new format to organize and share call links in a simpler and more visual way. Thus, it has incorporated this function into the chats interface itself, which eliminates the need to access the ‘Calls’ tab.
Specifically, it has been added to the menu ‘Attach’available in the ‘Message’ options bar – in which the Gallery, Location, Contact, Event or Survey options, among others, already appear -, next to the button for direct access to the camera and microphone.
WABetaInfo has noticed the deployment of this new feature in the new update of the Android application 2.24.21.29, released through the Google Play Beta Program and which is now available for some testers. It will be rolled out to more users soon.
This portal has pointed out that although it accessed this functionality through beta version 2.24.19.14 for Android, this was then only aimed at group chats. However, the new platform update expands this possibility to individual conversations.
