Majlis deputies called on Iran’s leadership to allow the creation of nuclear weapons

A group of members of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) called on the Supreme National Security Council to authorize the creation of nuclear weapons due to Israeli threats, ISNA reports.

“Today, not a single international organization and even European and American states can control Israel. Based on this, about 39 parliamentarians wrote a letter to the Supreme National Security Council and signed it, inviting this council to review the defense doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” a member of the parliament told the agency commission on culture Hasan-Ali Ekhlyaki (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Iran’s defense doctrine, following the fatwa of the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, prohibits the creation of nuclear weapons, considering their production contrary to Islam. Khamenei repeatedly spoke about this ban in his speeches. However, Iran has been working for many years to develop nuclear weapons and, according to international observers, is very close to possessing such weapons.
