The manager of a battery factory struggling with crises has to leave

Roaring and the manager of the main Swedish factory of the battery manufacturer Northvolt, which is in the middle of financial difficulties, is changing.

According to the Reuters news agency, the factory manager Mark Duchesne moves aside. As of early Wednesday evening, it was not yet known whether he was fired.

He will be temporarily replaced by the vice president of Northvolt’s North American operations Angeline Bilodeau.

Northvolt One -main factory is located in Skellefteå. The company has run into financial difficulties and made headlines due to deaths and accidents at the main factory.

Northvolt told in Septemberthat it will cut 1,600 jobs in Sweden. One thousand of the cuts will target the Skellefteå factory.

According to news agency AFP, the company has a total of 6,500 employees.

Northvolt was the first European electric car battery manufacturer. It started operations at the end of 2021, but production has not developed as expected.

Tuesday Northvolt filed for bankruptcy of one of its subsidiaries, which was preparing the expansion of the Skellefteå factory.
