Great recognition for a sensation in athletics: Jana Koščak competes for the best in Europe award

The European Athletics Federation (European Athletics) has published the list of finalists in all categories for the International Athlete of the Year Award, which also includes young Croatian athletes. Jana Koščak which competes for the “Rising Star” award. European Athletics has announced the finalists in four categories – in the male and female competition, and in the male and female categories for young hopefuls.

Of the 10 nominees, three male and female athletes were included in the finals, who were selected based on a four-part voting process, which includes a public vote, a vote of federation members, a media vote and a vote of the European Athletics expert panel. , where each part constitutes one quarter of the total votes.

Jana Košak was among the three finalists for the Rising Star award in the women’s competition, with British Phoebe Gill and Serbian Adriana Vilagoš competing for the award.

Last summer, an injury prevented our Jana from trying to win the title of European U20 champion in the heptathlon, but she “remedied” this by winning the title of world champion this year at the World Athletics U20 Championship in Lima.

In the men’s competition, the finalists are world record holder and Olympic pole vault champion Armand Duplantis from Sweden, Olympic champion at 5000m, and European champion at 1500m and 5000m Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen, and Olympic and European long jump champion from Greece Miltiadis Tentoglou. .

In the women’s competition for the European Athlete of the Year trophy, the Olympic winner and European high jump champion Jaroslava Mahukikh from Ukraine, the Olympic and European 800 meter champion Keely Hodgkinson from Britain, and the Olympic winner in the 4×400 m mixed relay, and the European champion in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m Dutch Femke Bol.

Competing for the “Rising Star” award in the men’s competition are the world U20 decathlon champion Tomas Jarvinen, the world U20 hammer champion from Cyprus Iosif Kesidis, and the world U20 record holder in the 1,000 and the European U20 record holder in the 1,500, Niels Laros from the Netherlands.

The “Golden Tracks” awards ceremony will take place on October 26 in Skopje.
