It seems Google can’t keep its upcoming devices a secret for too long. After the rumors about the Pixel 8A at the beginning of the year, the first renderings of the Pixel 9A, the next smartphone in Google’s “budget” series, emerge online. The Android Headlines website released the images, obtained from OnLeaks (already responsible for having anticipated the design of the Pixel 9 series). The most obvious innovation concerns the design of the rear camera module. Goodbye to the characteristic “visor” that has characterized the latest Pixel models: the 9A seems to adopt a pill-shaped module, which houses two photographic sensors and which protrudes slightly from the body.
The LED flash is positioned on the right, in a setup reminiscent of the back of an iPhone 7 Plus. Overall, the device’s design appears similar to other models in the Pixel 9 series and current iPhones, with thin bezels around the display. According to Android Headlines, the Pixel 9A could launch with Android 15 pre-installed and could be the last Google device to use a Tensor chip based on Samsung technology. In fact, it is rumored that Google will switch to processors produced by TSMC starting from 2025. Traditionally, Google presents its A series smartphones in the spring, during the Google I/O event. It is therefore likely that we will have to wait a few more months before knowing all the official details on the Pixel 9A.
