Guanajuato, Gto., In a fun and delirious atmosphere, the Brazilian company Galpão integrated the public into a story that had never been told, because in reality nothing is what it seems.

The show Cabaret courage which they presented at the 52nd International Cervantino Festival (FIC), is inspired by the time of the German playwright Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956).

In the Teatro Principal, the jazz music sounded like a whisper, then it changed to the Sonora Santanera, while the audience took their places. There was a parade of personalities: women in sequin and feather outfits adorning their curly hair; The men wore daring lingerie and their lips shone red.

The air was thick with expectation, between the hustle and bustle of latecomers looking for their seats and the actors wandering the aisles.

Under the direction of Júlio Maciel, an aging and decadent company took over the stage that, despite the elements and setbacks, reaffirms art as a place of identity.

Neon, dancing and singing

In this world of neon lights, artists dance, sing and do variety shows, while strange contradictions arise, such as a woman in a work uniform suddenly being an exotic dancer who questions the audience.

Faithful to its origins as a popular and street theater, Galpão seeks with this production occupy alternative spacesby breaking the relationship between stage and audience on more than one occasion.

In each act you learn the story behind the unique characters, who challenged the public’s perception.
