Four types of tea help relieve coughs

Drinking warm honey, ginger and mint tea soothes a sore throat, is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial to relieve coughs quickly.

Coughing is the body’s reflex to clear the airways. The cause can be allergies, asthma, or acid reflux. Prolonged coughing causes loss of energy and difficulty sleeping. Drinking some types of tea helps patients reduce mild symptoms without needing medication.

Honey tea

Honey helps soothe a sore throat and reduces cough symptoms because of its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Children under one year old should not use honey because there is a risk of poisoning and harm to their health. People who are sensitive to pollen or allergic to flowers should not use honey. Signs of a honey allergy include nausea, wheezing, and irregular heartbeat. You can make honey lemon tea by adding one spoon of honey and one spoon of lemon juice to a cup of boiled water.

Ginger tea

In addition to its uses in cooking, ginger is also good for people with respiratory diseases such as asthma and colds. Ginger has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that contribute to soothing the throat and airways irritated by coughs.

People with digestive disorders, cold stomach, and menstrual cramps can drink a cup of ginger tea to soothe the feeling of discomfort. This drink also stimulates the digestive system, enhances metabolism, prevents bloating, constipation and diarrhea. To prepare fresh ginger tea, peel and slice ginger thinly, boil in water for about 15 minutes, then drink, adding spices according to your preference.

Green tea

Green tea is widely used to lose weight and reduce headaches, improving alertness. Green tea leaves contain carotenoids, vitamin C, tocopherol, sterols and catechins that contribute to blocking inflammatory cytokines, thereby reducing cough. To promote the benefits of the drink, do not use tea on an empty stomach because it can easily cause nausea and vomiting. Avoid using it before going to bed. Each person should only drink about 500 ml a day, not with medication.

Caffeine in this drink helps burn fat and improve your ability to exercise and stay in shape effectively. Green tea contains high concentrations of antioxidants that help protect brain cells from damage.

Mint tea

Mint tea has long been used to treat the common cold, digestive problems, and headaches. Mint has antibacterial, antioxidant and analgesic properties. The properties of mint tea can soothe clogged sinuses and open the airways for people with colds.
