Four dead in accident in Poland: Children also killed in pile-up

Gdansk (Poland) – What a nightmare: 18 cars and three trucks collide, some vehicles catch fire. Four people die in this mass crash, including children.

At 11:17 p.m. on Friday evening on the S7 expressway south of Gdansk (Poland) to a momentous one Traffic accident. According to initial findings, a 37-year-old truck driver crashed into the car that was driving in front of him. Then he crashed into the guardrail. The result: a pile-up and several vehicles began to burn.

Andrzej Piechowski from the fire department in Gdansk told the online portal “Always Pomerania“: “18 cars and three trucks were involved in the traffic accident. 15 people were injured and taken to hospitals. Unfortunately, four more people died, including two children.”

By decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office the truck driver was arrested. He was not drunk, they said police with. His blood was taken for a drug test. The exact cause of the accident is still being investigated.
