At SNOP Automotive Gent, a supplier of Audi Brussels, the intention to close was announced during a works council on Wednesday. As a result, 150 employees are at risk of losing their jobs, the unions reported on Thursday.
SNOP Automotive Gent is the former TOWER automotive, which was started in Ghent in 2002 and then worked for Volvo Car. SNOP Automotive Gent today supplies bodywork parts to Audi Brussels.
The Brussels car factory of the German luxury car manufacturer Audi is in danger of having to close its doors next year. The Audi Q8 e-tron that is currently rolling off the production line will no longer be made. There is no successor and the search for an investor has not yielded any results so far. As a result, 3,000 jobs are at risk at the site in Vorst.
But this is also bad news for Audi Brussels’ suppliers. Earlier this week it was announced that 295 jobs are at risk at supplier Imperial Logistics. Last week, the Renault procedure for collective dismissal was also started at Rhenus Automotive. There are 128 jobs at risk.
The various suppliers that are largely dependent on the Brussels Audi factory employ more than a thousand people.
The unions emphasized on Thursday that the financial results of SNOP Automotive Gent were good, as was the social climate in the company. The unions hope for a good social plan for all employees.
