German Chancellor arrived in Turkey

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Istanbul on Friday evening. His meeting with Turkish President Recep Erdogan is scheduled today, after which their press conference is scheduled.

Before the visit on October 17, Scholz said that he would discuss many issues with Erdogan, including migration issues, Berlin-Ankara bilateral relations, and relations between the European Union and Turkey.

Turkey expects to make progress in acquiring European Typhoon fighter jets.

“France Press” notes that the leaders of Germany and Turkey will also discuss the situation in the Middle East.

The last time Scholz visited Turkey was in March 2022, a few months after assuming the position of chancellor.
