MotoGp Australia 2024, Marc Marquez wins and Bagnaia third: the ranking

Marc Marquez triumphs in the MotoGP in Australia, taking victory on the Phillip Island track in the fourth last round of the 2024 MotoGP. The Spanish Ducati Gresini rider, with his third success of the season, precedes the Pramac of compatriot Jorge Martin and the official Ducati of Pecco Bagnaiareigning world champion. Fourth place for Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati VR 46) and fifth place for Enea Bastianini (official Ducati).

Marquez wins at the end of an uphill race. At the start, the Spaniard complicates his life due to a trivial accident: a thrown away protective visor gets under the rear wheel, the bike skids and the start is a disaster. Marquez recovers, climbs back to the top and wins the duel with Martin. Bagnaia doesn’t keep the pace and settles for third place, 10” behind the winner.

In the general classification, Martin consolidates his lead. With 424 points, the Spaniard now has a 20-point lead over Bagnaia, who he trails at 404 with 3 races remaining in the season. The MotoGP continues next Sunday with the Thailand GP.
