Problems at cash registers in many Colruyt branches: “Update went wrong”

Anyone who wanted to do some quick shopping at Colruyt on Monday morning before work may have come home from a long journey. There were technical problems with the cash registers in many stores.

“A number of Colruyt stores were able to start up more slowly than normal on Monday morning,” says spokesperson Hanne Poppe. “That was due to an update that went wrong. Normally we implement updates on Sundays, but they turned out not to have gone correctly on Monday morning. As a result, many cash registers were difficult or impossible to start,” she says.

The update was quickly rolled back, allowing them to get back to work in the majority of stores. “Something had to be adjusted manually here and there. But all problems should be gone now.”

At Colruyt they emphasize that there is certainly no hacking. “Just an IT update that went wrong.”
