Microsoft allows you to create autonomous Agents in preview and offers a dozen of them already configured

Microsoft has announced that next month it will make available to users the ability to create specialized Agents through the Copilot Studio platform, a function that it will offer in public preview among its clients and that already has ten of them with functions already configured.

Last September, the firm announced what its next phase of innovation would be in Copilot for Microsoft 365, when it noted that it was seeking to “transform” all the applications in its ecosystem with this tool, with new functions such as advanced data analysis in Excel or improvements to Outlook inbox management.

Also then, the customized Copilot Agents were introduced, which would come “in all shapes and sizes” and would be created with Microsoft Copilot Studioa comprehensive platform with software as a service (SaaS) infrastructure to manage and deploy them.

Microsoft indicated in a new presentation, which took place this Monday, that this capability will be available in public preview next month. Furthermore, he has advanced that has incorporated 10 of these autonomous Agents in Dynamics 365, to increase the capacity of each sales, service, finance and supply chain team of the brand’s clients.

By offering this service to organizations, they will be able to have at their disposal “a constellation of Agents, ranging from those that respond quickly to those that are completely autonomous,” in the words of executive vice president of enterprise applications and platforms, Bryan Goode.

These, therefore, will be able to work “on behalf of an individual or a team, execute and orchestrate the business process“, always in contact with Copilot, who will interact with them on tasks such as order processing or supply chain automation.

Regarding the ten preconfigured Agents, he mentioned the so-called Financial Reconciliation Agent, for Copilot for Finance, which helps work teams to prepare data sets to simplify and reduce the time spent closing the financial period.

He Time and expense agent for Dynamics 365 Project Operations autonomously manages expense tracking and delivers invoices to clients more quickly, preventing lost revenue and ensuring projects stay on budget, according to Microsoft.

Other available Agents are the one dedicated to case management for Dynamics 365 Customer Servicededicated to automating key tasks throughout the life cycle of a case (creation, resolution, follow-up and closure) or the one intended for communications with suppliers for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, which manages collaboration with suppliers to confirm the order delivery.

They are joined by an Agent who is responsible for getting to know the customer and works hand in hand with a customer service representative to learn how to solve problems and another who allows companies to optimize their supply chain, minimize costly interruptions, as it tracks supplier performance automatically; detect delays and act accordingly.

Microsoft wanted to emphasize that the data sources that all these Agents use comply with strict security measures and controls, that they are protected to prevent data loss and that they undergo robust authentication protocols.

However, he recalled that organizations can establish policies for the use of this information to keep it free of any risk, as well as monitor the use of Agents through Copilot Studio. In this service, it has started to implement a new tab called ‘Activity’.

This is a section that has incorporated “to increase transparency and accountability” and allows creators to access a complete log of tasks performed by agents, including trend analysis and review of previously performed procedures.
