Hezbollah commanders eliminated? Tehran has already sent the replacements

The ongoing crisis in Lebanon puts the country at a critical crossroads. UN Resolution 1701, which was intended to regulate the situation in southern Lebanon after the 2006 war, remains largely unimplemented. At the same time, Iran’s growing influence through Hezbollah causes deep concern among many in Lebanon and in the international arena.

former Lebanese member of parliament, Misbah al-Ahdab in an interview with Al Hadath, made sharp claims regarding the implementation of UN Resolution 1701 and the current situation of Lebanon. In a comprehensive interview, he presented his positions on complex issues concerning the future of the country, its relations with Israel and Iran, and the role of the Lebanese army.

According to Al-Ahdab, Resolution 1701 from 2006 was not properly implemented: “The resolution was violated by both sides, Israel and Lebanon. Today there is no escaping the formation of a mechanism that is consistent with the Lebanese Constitution.” He emphasized the importance of Lebanese sovereignty and the need for weapons to be in the hands of Lebanese military institutions only, as enshrined in the constitution.

Al-Ahdab criticized the current political situation in Lebanon, saying: “The government of Lebanon today, despite the brave statement of the Prime Minister, is still a cover for the existing government controlled by Hezbollah.” He expressed deep concern about Iran’s growing influence: “Lebanon is no longer a homeland but has become a bargaining chip on the regional stage with Iran. After the Hezbollah leaders were eliminated, Iranian officers were appointed to direct the military campaign, and as you can see, the Iranian diplomats are the ones who impose the burden on the Arab world and giving”.

Regarding a possible solution, Al-Ahdab emphasized the need for an internal mechanism in Lebanon and the election of a new president. He claimed that Iran should also “give up to the state of Lebanon and allow the election of a president for the Republic of Lebanon, not in order to protect the armed system that exists today.” Referring to the security situation, Al-Ahdab warned: “If the conflict continues according to the equation that exists today, in which the resistance supports Gaza, and after a year Hezbollah can fire a few missiles, but on the other hand there is complete destruction – this is unacceptable from our point of view.”

Regarding the role of the Lebanese army, Al-Ahdab claimed that despite the challenges, “the Lebanese army, despite everything they say, has all the means to be a defender of the Lebanese government and Lebanese sovereignty.” However, he called for support and funding from the international community to strengthen the army. In conclusion, Al-Ahdab emphasized the need to “collect the fragments of the state” and to unite the rift in Lebanese society, while calling on opposition elements from among the Shiite community to express their concerns and take part in shaping the future of the country.
