The premiere of the film ‘Dražen’ will take place in Šibenik: ‘The authors could not make a mistake, it is Dražen’

Tonight, the world premiere of the feature-length feature film “Dražen”, dedicated to one of the best Croatian and European basketball players of all time, will be held in the Šibenik Dalmara Center. Film director Danilo Šerbedžija and project author and producer Ljubo Zdjelarević and Ivor Šiber organized the premiere in Dražen’s hometown on the day he was born 60 years ago. After the Sibenik premiere, to which Dra&zcaron’s fellow citizens, acquaintances, teammates and friends were invited, the premiere will also take place in Zagreb next week, after which the film will begin distribution in cinemas on the 31st. October.

The film, which was shot on authentic locations in Šibenik, Zagreb and New Jersey, follows Dra&zcaron’s biography from his first basketball steps to his death, and the famous basketball player is played by Tonko Stošić and Domagoj Nižić. Other roles include Lovre Tanfara and Pavle Matuško (Aleksandar Petrović), Zrinka Cvitešić (Biserka Petrović), Dragan Mičanović (Jovan Jole Petrović) Mile Kekin (Mirko Novosel)…

– The name of Dražen Petrović causes admiration all over the world not only in basketball, but and as a synonym for making dreams come true with great work. While many got to know him through his sports successes, we wanted to show the story of a man on the big screen – his growing up, his relationship with his family and people from his private and professional life who supported him on his way to the top. Therefore, this is not a typical sports film, but is an emphasis on Draž’s story – said the producers of Zdjelarević and Šiber and added:

– The Šibenik premiere was conceived as an event specifically for the people of Šibenik, for Dražen’s family and people who knew him and with whom he grew up and played basketball at the beginning of his career. There will also be guests from the world of sports, but most of them will still come to Zagreb because it is more convenient for them.

One of Dražen’s teammates from Šibenik days, Predrag Šarić can’t wait for the screening:

– I watched some clips and if the whole film is like that, then that’s it, told Draen, about his beginnings and career. Today, it is difficult to find something new, a story that has not been told in the over 30 years that he has been absent from our midst. Everything is known, and in my opinion, the authors of the film had no room to make a mistake, because Draž’s career was mostly on an upward trajectory. Apart from a short episode in Portland, everything else was a career written with successes and victories. From when he trained for ten hours a day in Šibenik, until his untimely death that made us all grow up and left us with the question of what he would have done if he had lived…
