Stefan Raab is coming back to television with more shows

Entertainer Stefan Raab is returning to the free RTL television program with another event this year. RTL Germany boss Stephan Schmitter also said in an interview with the German Press Agency: “In addition, it will be in the first quarter of 2025 there will be several Stefan Raab evenings on RTL, with his entire creative palette and in extraordinary setups.”

The private broadcasting group in Cologne did not provide any further information about the planned broadcasts. Schmitter said: “We are currently working on the final details with Stefan and his team.”

The return of the 57-year-old entertainer, musician and presenter in the fall was considered the German TV event of the year. Raab boxed against former boxer Regina Halmich on September 14th. RTL showed the show live, after which Raab announced his long-term return to the screens. He signed a five-year contract with the broadcaster.

Currently he is can be seen on the streaming service RTL+ with a weekly show. “You won’t win a million here with Stefan Raab” will not be broadcast on the classic RTL television program, but only on the streaming platform.

From Viva to “TV total”,

“With Stefan’s new show on RTL+ we already have gained a six-figure number of new subscribers,” said Schmitter in the dpa interview. When asked for an exact number, he only added that it was “clearly in six figures”. It is the most successful streaming-only show format that has launched in Germany to date.

Raab stood for new, funny television for decades. As a presenter and producer, he set standards for what we define as entertainment. Whether at the music channel Viva, at his comedy show “TV total”, as the mastermind behind ESC winner Lena Meyer-Landrut or at his Wok World Cup. In 2015 he actually retired from screen work.

“If you turn on the television today, much of what is still successful comes from Stefan Raab. “He has had a lasting impact on German television,” said Schmitter. He considers Raab to be “one of the greatest all-rounders” in Germany. “He makes music like no other, can moderate and entertain. He is someone who creates, orchestrates and structures his formats down to the last detail with incredible energy. Someone like that definitely and urgently belongs back in the German moving image market.”

At the same time, Schmitter criticized some of the feedback on Raab’s return: “It is bizarre that some media are trying to draw a final conclusion after just four weeks of comeback. We are only at the beginning of a long and very exciting journey.”
