Nami Foundation awarded 100 million VND to the Smile Surgery Foundation

On the morning of October 4, a representative of Nami Foundation visited the office of Operation Smile Organization in Ho Chi Minh City to donate 100 million VND. This donation will cover surgery costs for unlucky children with cleft lip and palate deformities in Vietnam. The sponsorship program is part of the Nami Foundation’s “Brave Smiles” campaign.

“With this funding, children will be fully covered for examination and treatment costs and partially supported with accommodation and travel costs during surgery. Opening up opportunities for children to find their smile again. completely”, the representative of Operation Smiles continued.

According to a representative of the Nami Foundation, in developing countries, on average, for every 700 children born, one child has this defect. Every year, about 3,000 Vietnamese children are born with facial deformities and 10,000 patients do not have access to free medical treatment services. Although not harmful to life, deformities significantly affect the child’s daily life, health and psychological life.

This is the first year that Nami Foundation accompanies Operation Smile on the journey to help children regain their full smiles, opening up new opportunities on the journey to regain confidence and integrate into the community. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Nam, Operations Director of Nami Foundation, shared: “Through the ‘Brave Smiles’ program, we believe that even small actions, when placed in the right place, will create great and extraordinary changes. The entire cost of sponsoring the “Brave Smiles” program is taken from the organization’s budget dedicated to social programs. Previously, a member of the Nami Foundation ecosystem coordinated with several units in the same industry to organize the “Third Mid-Autumn Festival” activity for children in Phu Dong commune, Tien Giang province. The program gives many gifts in kind including clothes, school supplies, necessities along with 50 scholarships and a portion of cash to students in difficult circumstances in the area.
