Champions League, Inter suffers but beats Young Boys

A flash from Thuram in the 93rd minute gave Inter a huge success against Young Boys in the third matchday of the Champions League. In Bern it ends 1-0 thanks to the Frenchman who came off the bench, after much suffering and a penalty missed by Arnautovic. Inzaghi’s team thus rises to 7 points by achieving their second victory in a row, while the Swiss remain at the bottom still without points after three matches.

The match is very balanced at the start, with no particular scoring opportunities. The first ring goes to the hosts with Hadjam, who centers and kicks with his right foot, first finding a deflection from Dumfries and then that of Sommer for a corner. The Nerazzurri goalkeeper is also present in the 25th minute, when Lakomi tries to dive with his head after a cross from the left, while a little later it is Inter who have the best chance to take the lead: Taremi serves the insertion with his heel by Bisseck, blocked by the opposing goalkeeper with a providential intervention of the foot. At the start of the second half there was a dramatic twist, with a penalty awarded to the Nerazzurri for a hold by Hadjam (already booked and not sanctioned further) against Dumfries: Arnautovic appears from the spot, but the Austrian doesn’t shoot very well and lets himself be hypnotized by Von Ballmoos.

Young Boys saved themselves and even came close to taking the lead at the hour mark Monteiro, who breaks through centrally and attempts a right-footed shot from the edge which hits the post. The match remains very open to any result, but it is Inzaghi’s men who press with the most insistence: in the 66th minute Taremi shoots over from an excellent position after a low cross from the right, while about ten minutes later it is the new substitute who Zielinski grazing the post with a left-footed shot from the edge following a pass from Dimarco. In the final the yellow and blacks show up again thanks to Males, who lets off a diagonal left foot going close to the big target, but theIn full recovery, Inter placed the winning move with Thuramwho pounces on Dimarco’s cross creating a very heavy goal for his team.
