Pedro Torres, with ‘Rome’, and Pedro Luis Cembranos, with ‘Yellow Pages’, winners of the 11th edition of the Ankaria Prize

The Brazilian artist Pedro Torres with his work ‘Roma’, and the Spanish Pedro Luis Cembranos, for their work ‘Yellow Pages’, have been awarded the first and second Ankaria Artist’s Book Award respectively, which is convened by the Ankaria Foundation.

In addition, the Javier Rosón Prize, which recognizes the works of young creators under 28 years of age, has distinguished Alejandra Espinosa for her work ‘Ma mère et moi’.

The prize, which is endowed with 3,000 euros for the first selected work, with 1,500 euros for the second and 1,000 euros for Javier Rosón, has received in its eleventh edition a total of 181 works by as many artists from a total of 26 countries.

Precisely, Torres, who was born in Brazil in 1982 and lives in Barcelona, ​​has won with a work, ‘Roma’, the result of his experience walking through that city during his period of residence at the Royal Academy of Spain with a research scholarship and production.

In the ten previous editions, important names from the current national and international artistic scene have been recognized, such as Javier Pividal (2014), Shirin Salehi (2015), Daniel Verbis (2016) and Guillermo Mora (2017), Roberto Aguirrezabala (2018), Ana Soler (2019), Carlos Irijalba (2020), Rosa Velasco Ringeling (2021), Ignasi Abasí (2022) and Manu Blázquez (2023).
