Hamas delegation arrives in Cairo to discuss the situation in Gaza

A “delegation of Hamas leaders” arrived in Cairo to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Egypt’s state television channel Al-Qahera News.

An Egyptian government source told the channel that the talks are part of Cairo’s efforts to resume talks on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas.

Osama Hamdan, one of the leaders of Hamas, in an interview with the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen TV channel, said that the delegation came to Cairo to listen to ideas and proposals, but stressed that the organization’s position remains the same, it insists on a complete ceasefire and withdrawal Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip as a condition for the release of Israeli captives.

Earlier, Arab media reported that a Hamas delegation flew from Qatar to Cairo to meet with the new head of Egypt’s general intelligence service, Hassan Mahmoud Rashad.
