Warning signs that the body is lacking water

Less urination, dry skin, headache, dry throat… are warning signs that the body is lacking water and needs to be supplemented.

Nurse Nguyen Thi Thoa, Senior Staff Medical Examination Department, Hospital 108, said that normally a healthy person urinates about 6-7 times a day. Urinating less than 2-3 times a day or not having the urge to urinate for many hours is a warning sign that the body is dehydrated.

Other signs such as dry skin even when using moisturizers, low saliva, dry mouth and throat also warn you that you are not drinking enough water.

In addition, if you feel more headaches with every movement position, for example when bending, going up and down stairs or vigorous exercise…, your body may not be hydrated enough. Lack of water can cause loss of taste, loss of appetite, dizziness, ringing in the ears, dizziness due to poor blood circulation, especially dark yellow, cloudy, or dark brown urine.

A mildly dehydrated body will experience fatigue, drowsiness, headaches, dizziness, constipation, mood changes, irritability, increased anxiety, cramps, joint pain, sunken eyes, and wrinkled skin. . If you lack enough water, you will have fever, low blood pressure, fast heart rate, delirium, unconsciousness…

Besides, lack of water in the body causes the metabolism to slow down, increase hunger, reduce the ability to regulate body temperature, and cause digestive problems such as constipation. In particular, the body needs water to dilute or digest sugar. If you have diabetes and your body is dehydrated, it is especially dangerous.

Water makes up the majority of body weight, is essential for health and participates in many important functions. Drinking water helps regulate body temperature, eliminate toxins and prevent disease. Water also helps speed digestion and cure constipation, lose weight, and reduce fatigue.

To calculate the exact amount of water you need to drink a day with normal physical conditions and not being very active, people can rely on the following formula: Amount of water you need to drink (liters) = [cân nặng (kg) x 2,205] x 0.5 : 33.8. For example, if you weigh 50 kg, the amount of water you need to drink a day is 1.6-1.7 liters.

People who exercise, play sports or work outdoors, the amount of water they need to drink is calculated according to the following formula: Amount of water needed to drink (liters) = [số phút luyện tập (p) : 30] x 12 : 33,8.

The above formula shows that drinking 2 liters of water per day is not always correct. The amount of water depends on many factors such as weight, physical condition, environmental conditions… So everyone should listen to their body to supplement the appropriate amount of water.
