There is no excuse anymore: exercising on a bicycle improves memory, according to science

Various scientific studies have revealed that aerobic exercise, such as riding a stationary bike, can significantly improve memory, especially spatial memory. According to the researchers, conducting short sessions of exerciseeven just 10 minutes, can have beneficial effects on our cognitive abilities.

Articles that have been published in journals such as iScience or Psycosomatic Medicine point in this direction. One investigation, for example, evaluated a group of people who did 25 minutes of stationary cycling and compared it with a group that did not exercise. The results showed that participants who exercised performed better on memory tests, suggesting a direct relationship between physical activity and the ability to remember places.

The study adds to the evidence that exercise not only benefits physical health, but also mental functions. The stationary bike, in particular, is an accessible exercise that can help delay cognitive decline over time.

The key to this benefit, according to scientists, could be in the strengthening of neuronal connections during exercise. This physical activity stimulates the brain and reinforces the interconnections between neurons, which facilitates the memorization process.

Therefore, activities such as cycling or brisk walking not only improve cardiovascular health, but could also be a useful tool for improving long-term memory.
