Washington Post: Israel acted so Iran could deny damage

The Washington Post assesses the Iranian leadership’s response to the Israeli attack as muted and believes that Israel initially planned the attack with the intention of minimizing damage and generally acting in a manner that would allow Iran to deny serious damage.

In particular, the Vice President of Iran, Mohammadreza Aref, wrote on his social media account that “Iranian power humiliates enemies.”

Let us note that earlier the Iranian news agency Tasnim stated (with reference to its own source) that “the Israeli attack was carried out outside Iran and caused limited damage.”

According to the source, “Israeli claims that 20 targets were attacked are unrealistic and part of psychological warfare.” The source claims that no military installations were attacked and the report of 100 aircraft involved in the attack is “false.”
