Not understanding your own blood fat index: Blood fat test provides information about the types of fats in the blood, usually 4 main indicators including total cholesterol, bad cholesterol (LDL-c), good cholesterol (HDL-c) and triglycerides. People with different underlying medical conditions have different blood lipid control goals. Understanding indicators and goals helps support effective treatment.

Does not reduce sugar or starch but only focusing on reducing fat in the diet causes blood fat to not improve. Sugar and refined starches, when consumed in excess, will be converted into triglycerides and cholesterol that are harmful to the body.

Do not take medicine regularly When treating blood fat as prescribed by your doctor. This habit increases the risk of disease recurrence, leading to cardiovascular events due to increased blood fat. If there is a problem while taking medication, the patient needs to immediately discuss with the doctor for appropriate adjustments.

Dieting is not scientific Completely eliminating fat and not adding enough fiber to your daily diet are also common mistakes when treating high blood fat. Good fats like omega-3 help increase good cholesterol, help reduce inflammation, and protect heart health. Completely cutting out fat can cause nutritional imbalance, affecting metabolism. Fiber helps reduce bad cholesterol absorption in the intestines.

Lazy to exercise reduces the results of high blood fat treatment. Physical activity contributes to increasing good cholesterol and reducing bad cholesterol. Each person should exercise regularly, at least 150 minutes a week with activities such as walking, cycling, and swimming to help lower blood fat and control blood pressure well. Light aerobic exercises significantly reduce total cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood.

Doctor Binh said not checking blood fat regularly, not controlling stress, and lack of sleep negatively affects health. Patients need to be treated in parallel with underlying diseases (if any). Regular health check-ups to promptly monitor and adjust appropriate treatment methods.
