Report: Concern at Trump’s election headquarters following the horror show…
The campaign of the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has gained positive momentum in recent months, but in the New York Times it was reported that those close to the former president fear that the horror show at the rally in New York that took place on Tuesday (Sunday), may hurt him a week before the elections. The speakers who spoke before Trump at the rally made racist and offensive statements against minorities and the Democratic Party.According to the report, the Trump campaign is particularly worried about the consequences of the racist jokes made by the comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who stated in his speech that Hispanics, a key population in the US elections, “like to make babies”, and equated their sex with their arrival in the United States. He then called the Puerto Rico (U.S. protectorate) “a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean”. Pennsylvania, one of the swing states that could decide the fate of the election, has a large Puerto Rican population, and the Republican Party fears that the offensive statement at an official campaign event could hurt Trump among Puerto Ricans.

The things caused an immediate uproar among the Puerto Rican community, and many celebrities from the island expressed outrage over the things. The storm prompted Trump’s team to issue a rare clarification that they disavow the offensive remarks. “The joke about Puerto Rico does not represent the views of former President Trump or the campaign,” said a senior adviser to the campaign. This is a statement that deviates from the usual line of the Trump campaign, which very rarely apologizes or disavows controversial statements.

The Democrats were quick to try and take advantage of the embarrassment in the Republican campaign – Harris attacked Trump’s statements and a Democratic operative sent the statements in a text message to about 250 thousand Americans, focusing on Puerto Ricans in Pennsylvania. Other elements in the Republican Party also distanced themselves from the statements, and members of Congress from the party said they were “disgusted” by the statements, and that they were “in bad taste and without grace.”

The latest uproar sparked by the remarks comes after the Democratic Party has tried harder to portray Trump as a racist and fascist in recent times. The New York Times reported that those close to Trump fear that the Democratic Party’s attempts to portray him in this way are effective and permeating voters. It was also reported that Trump’s relatives expressed surprise in private conversations that no controversial statement seemed to have hurt Trump politically, but that some of those close to him expressed concern that the racist statements at Trump’s rally came at a critical time for the campaign, and would harm him among a key population in the country that may decide the election – and therefore they may harm his campaign.

At an event held by Harris about a week ago, she called Trump a “fascist”, and in the words he gave in Georgia tonight, Trump tried to repel the criticism leveled at him. “I’m not a Nazi, I’m the opposite of a Nazi,” the former president said, adding that his father taught him never to use the word “Nazi” or “Hitler,” accusing the Democratic Party of running a “Gestapo government” and Harris of being a “fascist.”

The Trump campaign is trying to fight being labeled as a fascist – along with his statements tonight and disavowing the racist joke, in recent days the former president’s campaign published a video of a Holocaust survivor in which he expresses indignation at the comparison between Trump and Hitler and calls on Harris to apologize.

The uproar following the remarks and the concern in Trump’s campaign come a week before the election, and when Trump leads Harris by only 0.3% in Pennsylvania, a key state that could decide the election. The gap between the candidates is less than 2% in all 7 swing states, according to the average of the 538 polls.
