The family of Major (res.) Yedidiya Bloch, 31 years old in Nefolo, a fighter in the 7155 Spearhead Regiment (55), decided to donate his organs after his death. Bloch passed away last night from his wounds after being seriously injured last week in a battle in southern Lebanon.
The National Transplantation Center reported that Yedidia’s heart was transplanted into a 57-year-old man at the Sheba Medical Center (Tel Hashomer), his lungs were transplanted into a 69-year-old patient in Bilinson, the liver into a 47-year-old woman in Ichilov, and the liver lobe into a 9-year-old boy in Schneider. The kidneys were transplanted in a 15-year-old girl in Schneider, another kidney in a 74-year-old man in Billinson.
A friend died of his injuries after being wounded in a battle in southern Lebanon on Thursday last week. At the outbreak of the war, he served in the position of Negevist Khod. According to the family, as part of an operational activity on the morning of the last Simchat Torah, Yedidia went out with the force to clean up terrorist nests in a village north of Meshgav Am. The force encountered a terrorist squad and an exchange of fire took place.
“Some of the team’s soldiers were injured. Yedidia eliminated terrorists and managed to delay their progress, thus enabling the rescue of the wounded,” the family members say. Later in the same action, Yedidia was also injured by a bullet that hit his head. He was rescued under heavy fire and arrived at the hospital in a very serious condition. For five days he fought for his life until last night he died of his wounds.
Bloch was born and lived in Move Horon. His family describes an ATV and off-road man who loved to travel and knew every trail in the country: “Beloved by his friends and family and illuminated everyone with his special face.” He left behind his wife Sapir, eight months pregnant, parents and seven brothers and sisters.
