Atalanta beat Monza 2-0 in a match on the tenth matchday of Serie A, played at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo. Goals from Samardzic in the 70th minute and Zappacosta in the 88th minute decided the match. In the Orobic standings third with 19 points, 6 less than league leaders Napoli and two less than Inter, while the Brianza team remain stationary at 8 in 17th position with Venezia and Lecce.

The match

Few emotions in the first half of the game, a few shots but no real scoring opportunity. Retegui, Lookman for the hosts and Vignato for the guests tried from outside but without ever really worrying the two goalkeepers. The second half was livelier, with a goal canceled out for the Brianza team in the 14th minute. Vignato starts from the left of the pitch, steers towards the center and then crosses in the middle of the area where Djuric is: the red and white attacker comes close to heading the ball into the net at the far post, mocking Carnesecchi. All in vain however because the referee signals a foul in the center by Djuric himself which disturbed the goal action.

As the minutes passed, the pressure on the home team increased and they scored in the 25th minute. Zaniolo’s descent on the left, then a low cross from the back that Retegui works to the centre, with his back to the goal. Retegui provided the assist for Samardzic in tow: control and shot placed from a central position. In the 40th minute, Monza was very close to par. Kyriakopoulos’s free-kick from the edge of the box was very narrow on the right: his left-footed shot went over the barrier and chipped the post! Also thanks to a deviation from Carnesecchi. The second goal arrives in the 43rd minute. Zappacosta swerves towards the center from the left and shoots with his right, a very angled ball that hits the post and ends up in the net.
