Al Jazeera: IDF strikes on targets in eastern Lebanon kill 19 people

The Qatari TV channel Al-Jazeera reports: On October 30, as a result of IDF air strikes on two targets in the Baalbek area, in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, 19 people were killed.

The report claims that among those killed were civilians, including eight women.

After 15:00 on October 30, during the broadcast of a speech by the new Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qasem, the IDF air force launched strikes on targets in Baalbek. The IDF later reported: “Israeli Air Force aircraft, guided by military intelligence, attacked fuel tanks at Hezbollah logistics bases in the Bekaa Valley… The fuel stored at the attacked sites was used to refuel Hezbollah vehicles and provide functioning of the organization’s military infrastructure. It was supplied from Iran as part of a package of military support to Hezbollah.” The IDF press release noted that Hezbollah still has significant reserves of fuel that it uses for military purposes. And these activities are detrimental to Lebanon and a source of threat to the lives of ordinary citizens.

Earlier, the representative of the Arab department of the IDF press service, Lieutenant Colonel Avichai Edrai, called for the immediate evacuation of residents of the Lebanese city of Baalbek, located in the east of the country and considered one of Hezbollah’s strongholds. The Sky News Arabia television channel reported that after receiving the warning, many residents of Baalbek hurried to leave the city, and traffic jams formed on suburban highways.

About 24 thousand people live in Baalbek.
