Serious progress is being made in the negotiation process of the peace agreement, stated the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, at the same time repeating the position regarding the Constitution of Armenia.
Jeyhun Bayramov informed Stephen Doughty, the Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom, during a telephone conversation, about the practical steps taken to establish a stable peace in the region, as well as the peace process with Armenia, the official statement said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that, in general, efforts are being made to coordinate the project, but according to Jeyhun Bayramov, the main obstacle to the peace process is Armenia’s “territorial claims contained in the Constitution” towards Azerbaijan.
The High Court of Armenia examined weeks ago and decided that the preamble of the Constitution does not refer to any principle or goal that is not fixed by the Constitution, there are no territorial claims. Official Yerevan has repeatedly claimed the same.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also announced in Kazan that the decision of the Supreme Court records that the above-mentioned comments are unfounded and not legal, adding that they suggest Baku to sign the agreement.
