South Korea is very worried about the new situation in which North Korean soldiers are participating in the war in Ukraine. More than 70 years have passed since the end of the Korean War, and it is clear that the tensions between North and South Korea are only deepening. Despite this, for years the two armies operated statically and only in training, but now the soldiers of the North Korean army, at least some of them, will gain valuable combat experience. The deputy US ambassador to the UN yesterday referred to North Korea’s aid to Russia, saying that “it is likely that the North Korean soldiers who cross the border into Ukraine will return with sacks.”
Since Putin’s visit to North Korea in June, it is evident that relations between the two countries have deepened to a level that may not have been seen before. North Korea supplies Russia with a large amount of weapons and means of warfare for the war in Ukraine, such as ballistic missiles. It is estimated that since then the relations between the two authoritarian leaders have strengthened, thus allowing Kim to show more boldness in tensions with South Korea, and to threaten more the tense peace between the two enemies.
Another escalation in tensions on the Korean Peninsula was recorded tonight, with the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile by North Korea towards the sea from the east. In Japan it was announced that the missile reached an altitude of 7,000 km and crossed a range of about 1,000 km, and in South Korea they estimated that the test tested the carrying of an extremely heavy warhead.
