At least seven people have died, including five children, in an attack near a secondary school in the Pakistani town of Kanak, in Mastung, located in the province of Balochistan (west), shaken by the operations of extremist groups and Baloch separatists. which has caused a deterioration in security in recent years.

Superintendent Nisar Ahmad Baloch has indicated in statements to the Pakistani television network Geo TV that in addition to the five minors – among whom there are boys and girls between the ages of ten and thirteen – an agent and a passerby, in an attack that targeted a Police vehicle that was in the vicinity of the educational center.

In addition, there are around 30 people, most of them students, receiving treatment at the Headquarters and in a hospital in Mastung, a situation that has led the authorities to declare an emergency in both medical centers in order to care for the victims of the attack. whose authorship has not yet been claimed.

The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sarfaraz Bugti, has condemned the attack and denounced that “terrorists attack innocent children and workers.” Likewise, he has promised to avenge the blood of the victims and has conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured.

Balochistan and other areas of northern Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan have been the target of dozens of attacks in recent months. Extremist and Baloch separatist groups operate in Balochistan and demand greater autonomy or independence for the province.
