“Stop looking from the sidelines”: Zelensky calls on the West to act against North Korea

In a video posted on Telegram, Zelensky said that North Korea has advanced in its military capability, missile deployment and weapons production and “now unfortunately they will learn modern warfare.”

“The first thousands of soldiers from North Korea are near the Ukrainian border. The Ukrainians will be forced to defend themselves against them,” he added. “And the world will watch from the side again.”

Zelensky said that Ukraine had located every location where North Korean soldiers were stationed in Russia. But Kiev’s Western allies, he said, had not provided the long-range weapons needed to hit them. “Instead of providing us with such a necessary long-term capability, America is watching, Britain is watching, and Germany is watching.”

“Everyone in the world who really wants the Russian war against Ukraine to not expand should not just watch from the sidelines. They must act.” The video follows an interview with South Korean television on Thursday in which Zelensky attacked the “zero” response of his allies to Russia’s deployment of North Korean forces.

US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken said on Thursday: “10,000 North Korean troops in Russia, including up to 8,000 in the South Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces launched an invasion in August.”
