Innovation and Made in Italy at Diplomacy, the diplomacy festival

Innovation, new technologies, artificial intelligence and international relations. This and much more within the observatory presented and promoted by the National Association of Young Innovators in the press room of the Chamber of Deputies on the occasion of the 2024 edition of Diplomacy – Festival of Diplomacy.

The work was conducted by the president of ANGI Gabriele Ferrieri together with the general director of ANGI Francesco Paolo Russo in analyzing the data promoted by the ANGI Ricerche observatory in collaboration with Lab 21.01 led by the director of the scientific committee of ANGI, prof. Roberto Baldassari.

During the conference, various representatives of the institutions were present, in particular the President of the European Affairs commission of the Chamber of Deputies Hon. Alessandro Giglio Vigna and the Vice-President of the Environment, Territory and Works, Public Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Hon. Patty the Abbot.

During the press conference, numerous journalists and delegates of the Festival of Diplomacy present who witnessed the observatory’s analysis which highlighted the importance of promoting Made in Italy and the development of the country system abroad, including the challenge of the American election which will soon see the confrontation for who will become the next president of the United States between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

“The survey – reveals Professor Roberto Baldassari, Director of the ANGI Scientific Committee and General Director of LAB21.01 – shows how the perception of Italian public opinion is oriented towards technologies such as artificial intelligence (25.6%), augmented and virtual reality (18.4%) and sustainable mobility (17.1%) as the main levers for socio-economic change. And the numbers don’t lie: the Italian population has faith in a future in which technology can truly transform everyday life for the better.

Who is driving the change? If you think that only government institutions hold the keys to progress, you are wrong. Although 52.7% of those interviewed recognize a crucial role for ministries and government agencies, there is a growing interest in a more active involvement of business associations and Italian banks. In short, to make Italy an international player, teamwork is needed that includes both public and private sectors.

NATO and Cyber ​​Defense: Friends or Rivals? One aspect on which Italians seem to have rather clear ideas is global security. 42% believe NATO should focus on strengthening cyber defense, reflecting a growing concern about threats that go well beyond the traditional battlefield. Less popular, however, is the idea of ​​reducing international economic involvement (18.3%), a sign of an aspiration for international cooperation that protects, but is also advantageous for economic development.

Fashion, Tourism and Technology: the Strengths of Made in Italy

Which Italian sectors would benefit most from international collaborations? 16.8% of those interviewed see mobility and transport as a priority, followed by technology and innovation (16.1%) and tourism and culture (9.7%). The image that emerges is that of an Italy eager to expand its cultural heritage, while at the same time exploiting technology to relaunch itself on global markets.

Who can stop wars?

The survey also touched on a political note: who, between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, could contribute more to world peace? The answer was clear for many: 62.4% of Italians see Trump as a potentially more effective figure in promoting the end of war conflicts, a vision that reflects an Italy attentive to diplomatic pragmatism.”
