“The best message is not to stop, to be on the front line in our jobs”

The president of LaLiga defends that the competition continues safely in the areas affected by DANA: “All hands on deck to get ahead”

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, addressed the many complaints within football due to the dispute this weekend of the matchday in LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion, in the midst of the disaster that a large part of the country is experiencing due to DANA that has already caused more than 200 deaths, and he pointed out that “the best message is not to stop” and to be “on the front line”, each one doing their job.

“We believe that in the terrible situation that we are experiencing in Spain, the best message is not to stop, except in the affected areas. The best message is to be on the front line in our jobs like all workers in the rest of the sectors, giving visibility, generating resources and explaining to the world that we have to be all hands on deck to get ahead,” he wrote on his ‘X’ social network account.

Tebas thus responded to the many voices against playing that have been happening since Friday in every press conference or on the pitch. On Friday, after Deportivo Alavés-Mallorca that opened the twelfth day of LaLiga EA Sports, footballers such as Pablo Maffeo and Toni Lato and the Basques coach, Luis García Plaza, pointed out that the day had to be suspended entirely.

This Saturday, the Atlético de Madrid coach, Diego Pablo Simeone, also pointed out that it made “no sense” to play, but they did so by following orders. Likewise, the FC Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, doubted whether the day should have been suspended.

However, Tebas came forward explaining LaLiga’s position, without detailing the many solidarity actions that are being carried out in all fields, the box office donations, but mentioning in his message the campaign launched together with the Red Cross to raise funds. “We need the best of everyone. Help and solidarity. Spanish football is already in it,” says the video that accompanies the message from the LaLiga president.
