Israel officially informs the UN that it has ceased cooperation with UNRWA

Israel’s Foreign Ministry has informed the UN that the 1967 agreement between the Jewish state and the UN Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has been terminated.

“Back in July, he handed over to the UN numerous materials indicating deep penetration of Hamas into UNRWA, including the names of 100 activists from the militant wing of the group – agency employees… UNRWA facilities were used in numerous terrorist attacks against Israelis. This contradicts obligations of neutrality,” says the letter sent to the president General Assembly to Philemon Young.

“Despite ample evidence that Hamas has taken control of UNRWA, the UN has done nothing to change the situation. The State of Israel will continue to cooperate with humanitarian organizations, but not with those who serve terrorist enemies of Israel,” said the Israeli representative to the UN Dani Danon.

On October 28, at a plenary session of the Knesset, a bill banning the activities of the United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Israel was passed by a majority of 92 votes. 10 deputies voted against.

The reason for the adoption of this law was evidence of the participation of numerous UNRWA employees in the massacre of October 7, 2023 and evidence of the methodical and unimpeded use of UNRWA premises, resources and funds by the terrorist organization Hamas for terrorist activities.
