North Korea fired several ballistic missiles at South Korea

North Korea has one again, according to the South Korean military Rocket test carried out. Several short-range ballistic missiles were reported to be heading from the western province of North Hwanghae on Tuesday morning (local time). Japanese Sear (Korean: East Sea) was fired, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reported, citing the General Staff.

North Korea most recently tested an intercontinental ballistic missile last week.

UN resolutions prohibit the self-proclaimed nuclear power to launch or even test ballistic missiles of any range. These are usually surface-to-surface missiles which – depending on the design – can also be equipped with a nuclear warhead.

Tensions on the Korean peninsula have recently increased significantly. Over the past two years, North Korea has significantly increased its missile tests and increased its rhetoric against the United States and South Korea. In addition, according to South Korean intelligence and the US Department of Defense, North Korea sent several thousand soldiers to Russia, where they are presumably being prepared for a mission against Ukraine.
