Artificial intelligence improves educational achievements – the research that proved the opposite of what we thought

In a reality where schools in the North are frequently ranged, teachers and students find themselves moving from physical learning to remote learning immediately and are forced to deal with its consequences, including the accumulation of significant gaps compared to students in areas that are less ranged.

In “Maariv” it is published for the first time that new studies unequivocally prove that, contrary to what is commonly thought of as artificial intelligence, as “sedating” the thinking of students, technologies based on Generative AI (artificial intelligence) actually make the dramatic transition to distance learning – possible and effective.

At Matach (the Center for Educational Technology) these days, AI-based learning solutions are being integrated into the learning environments. Also, MindCET, the entrepreneurship arm of Matach, is holding the Israeli EdTech week this week, a series of events throughout the country, with the participation of hundreds of educators from Israel and the world, dozens Investors, entrepreneurs and more.

The first study focused on the effects of integrating artificial intelligence in teaching Hebrew and language and was conducted over the past two years among hundreds of students in grades 9-10, from five different schools in Israel.

79% of the students improved the scope of the articles they wrote as well as their content, 72% used AI to expand their ideas, get feedback on them and change their wording, 60% added examples to their reasoning and clarified the reasoning. The research conclusions stated that using AI helps most students improve their writing in terms of scope and content.

The second study, from June of this year, examined the effects of “Learning Companion Bot” in preparation for language matriculation among 9th-10th grade students, and it was found that 93% of the students used it with questions they were unsure about or with questions they did not know how to answer, and that 85% enjoyed using it , and would like to integrate the technology in the innovative learning, which reduces gaps and eliminates the need for private lessons, provides an answer to learning disabilities and also helps teachers.
