“‘Nothing’ is the great story and the great novel that explains the Spanish postwar“, assured Yago, who has detailed that it is also the story of the disenchantment associated with the adult period.

The playwright is grateful for the opportunity to adapt the work because “rereading it is one of the most beautiful things” that has happened to him in his life and clarifies that the adaptation “does not aspire to be better than the book.” “I am very happy to have this opportunity. Once I read it again I began to find many other things that I did not remember“, he commented.

The director of the production, Beatriz Jaén, has explained that the work ‘Nada’ revolves around Andrea’s “vital struggle”, a story that became a “generational cry”, when in 1944, and at only 23 years old , Carmen Laforet won the first Nadal Prize. “Carmen Laforet surprised the entire literary scene of the moment with this immense novel that is of heartbreaking beauty and rawness.“he stressed.

“When Alfredo Sanzol called me it seemed like an enormous challenge. I think a production has come out that I think is very ambitious and very brilliant. I hope we are up to the task with the staging,” said Jaén.

The work highlights the friendship that Carmen Laforet narrated between the protagonist Andrea, a young woman from a downtrodden Catalan family who arrives in Barcelona to study at university, and Ena, the daughter of a wealthy family.

For the staging, the production has ten performers from different generations and an old post-war house designed by Pablo Menor Palomo is presented on stage, which will open to the city and the light.

“We try to capture that world of the house, which is very difficult and dark and also all the light provided by the outside world that opens up for the protagonist.to: that Barcelona, ​​that youth, the university and her friends, and above all Ena, who is going to open up a world of possibilities, a new way of seeing the world,” explained Beatriz Jaén.

ACCUSATIONS AGAINST JUAN CODINA

The director of the CDN was present at the press conference, Alfredo Sanzol, who directed the actor Juan Codina in ‘Luces de bohemia’accused by actress Miranda Yorch of having raped her when she was 19 years old and he was 51 years old.

In this regard, Sanzol has acknowledged that he received the news with “pain” and with “the hope that everything will be clarified,” despite the fact that at the beginning of his response he indicated that it was time to talk about the work ‘Nada’.

Codina won the award for best lead actor from the Union of Actors and Actresses in 2019 for ‘Luces de bohemia’, a time when Yorch belonged to the Juan Codina theater school where he was between 2018 and 2022.

The actress reported on Instagram that Codina raped her in a “tiny” school bathroom and then offered her cocaine. An event in which he was “faced with violence, impunity, ignorance, silence and normalization of what happened.”

For its part, the Juan Codina Studio announced last Monday, November 4, the “permanent” suspension of Codina in any of its areas within the entity and ceased its work as a professor “immediately.”
